Privacy Policy

Mean Baits ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

• Order and contact details you give us on WhatsApp, by phone or email: name, phone number, email, delivery address (for courier orders) and what you order.
• Catch photos and details you choose to send us on WhatsApp.
• Website usage data through Google Analytics 4, only if you accept analytics cookies (pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location). IP addresses are anonymised.
• Online orders (only once our online shop is live): name, email, phone and order details. Card payments are handled by our payment provider (PayFast). We never see or store your card details.

3. Why we use it

• To process, deliver and support your orders, arrange collection appointments and answer your questions.
• To share catch photos on our website or Facebook page, only with your permission.
• To understand and improve our website (analytics, with your consent).
• To meet legal and tax obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We only send you marketing messages if you have asked for them, and you can opt out at any time.

4. Who we share it with

• Couriers (PostNet, The Courier Guy), to deliver your order.
• Service providers who help us run the business: WhatsApp (Meta), website hosting and cookieless, aggregated visit and page-speed statistics (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights), content management (Sanity), Google Analytics (with consent) and PayFast (once the shop is live).
• Authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. We only use providers that offer adequate protection, as POPIA section 72 requires.

5. How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by tax law (generally 5 years), and other information only for as long as it is needed.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask for access to your personal information, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, and withdraw consent (e.g. via Cookie settings in the footer). We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page.
